Captain Adil D. Moos
Captain Adil D. Moos has over three decades of experience in the merchant navy of which he was in Command of ships for 12 years.
He started his career with the world reknown P & O Steam Navigation Company, London.
He is a certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 and also a Company Security Officer. He was instrumental in setting up the ISPS Code on over 18 ships from grassroots level.
He has been ashore since 2002 , first as a Marine Supdt in a large Ship management company operating out of Hongkong and later as a Fleet Safety Supdt with another ship management company in Dubai. Presently he is the QHSE Manager of a progressive ship management company in Dubai, called Gulf Stolt Shipmanagement jlt.
Adil takes a very keen interest in his profession and keeps abreast of the latest developments. He has been invited as a Guest Speaker in various Maritime Seminars and Conferences worldwide. He is a full member of the Nautical Institute, and is also the Hon.Treasurer of the Nautical Institute, UAE Branch- the Branch which is one of the most active in the World.
In his spare time Adil enjoys Music, reading, walking , espousing social causes, playing Table Tennis, Chess and has a penchant for fine dining.

Brian Boahene
Brian joined Ince & Co as a trainee in London in 2000 and has been based in Dubai since 2006.
Brian's practice is both contentious and non contentious. He acts in various aspects of commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation with a focus on insurance, reinsurance, shipping, and energy disputes. On the maritime side, Brian acts for insurers in matters predominantly involving claims under P&I, hull, war and marine cargo covers, and he acts for ship owners, operators and charterers in bill of lading, charter party, collision, grounding and general average disputes.
Brian has been a partner in the firm since May 2010.

A qualified Senior Dynamic Positioning Operator finishing his sea going career on Seismic Survey vessels, Carl holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Maritime Studies.

Simon is a partner in Holman Fenwick Willan's Dubai office, specialising in shipping and international trade.
He is qualified as a solicitor in England and in New Zealand and also has rights of audience to appear and conduct cases before the Dubai International Financial Centre courts.

Captain Alavi is the Maritime Advisor and Director of the UAE Ship Registry, reporting directly to the Director General of the National Transport Authority (NTA), Government of UAE in Abu Dhabi.
He has responsibility for operating the UAE Ship Registry. Captain Alavi is a member of the committee for rewriting the maritime law of the UAE, and acts in an advisory role in the development of the maritime education and training institution in the UAE, development of the maritime economy of the UAE, and policy making.
Prior to joining the NTA, Captain Alavi was head of Business Development & Research for the Department of Transport (Maritime Sector) for Abu Dhabi. From 2006 to 2008, he was Director of Business Development for Dubai Maritime City, joining DMC from DVB Bank AG in Rotterdam, where he was Senior Vice President/Senior Business Analyst for its Research & Strategic Planning Department.
Captain Alavi has over 40 years of all round Maritime Industry Experience. He served as the President at Sea Commerce America in Houston, served as Managing Director of Project Asia Line and has also worked with other Shipowners, Charterers and Traders in Europe and USA. He sailed as Master for two years before taking shore assignments, and has sea-going experience on nearly all types of vessels including Bulk Carriers, Tankers, MPP/Container, cattle carrier, reefer and passenger vessels.

With more than 15 years in regional line management position with P&O Nedlloyd and Maersk Line, Shahrin has a proven track record in Maritime related Cross-Functional Business & Operations Process Re-engineering and Change Management, Logistics Process Improvement, Project Management, IT Applications Development & Implementation for Asia-Pacific Region. He has conducted operations and business process improvement audits for end-to-end supply chain for all major ports in SEA. His responsibility in Procurement & Operations cost management includes managing container vessel feeder performance, overseeing container terminal contracts, service level, productivity and cost improvement initiatives. He has also been involved in logistics process automation, terminal system development and interface with port users. Since joining DNV Maritime Advisory Asia Pacific based in Singapore in early 2008, he has been involved with leading capability building projects in Ports & Terminals, Emergency Response, Maritime Procurement, Ship Management systems, Green Port Solutions and Maritime Industry Benchmarking studies. Shahrin has spearheaded the development of new advisory service line in DNV for Maritime Procurement and Ports & Terminals industry segment. He moves to Dubai in March 2010, to establish and lead the Management Advisory unit within DNV Maritime Middle East. Since then, the unit has assisted clients in strategic areas such as developing business expansion plans, developing governmental policies on Maritime matters, HSE and Operational Risk Services and Operational Excellence projects. The clients include all major spheres within the Maritime segment with HQ in Middle East.
He holds a MSc in Maritime Studies and BSc in Management from the University of London.

Capt. Satish P. Anand, is the founder member and Managing Director of All-India operation of Henderson International India. He started his Marine Surveyor / Consultant career in 1982 after being in command for 7 years and overall training & sailing for over 17 years.
He has a wide range of experience and expertise in all marine related matters. His specialty is Maritime Disasters and Casualty Investigations, having acted as a General Average Surveyor on many cases for collision, grounding, salvage, pollution and fire damaged vessels. He has also been called-upon to act as a Marine Consultant to Owners, Shippers, Charterers, Average Adjusters, Cargo (P&I) and Hull (H&M) Underwriters and Ship brokers etc.. All this experience has stood him in goodstead in presenting fair and reasonable awards as an Arbitrator. He is a Fellow Member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying, U.K., The Indian Council of Arbitration and the Indian Institute of Surveyors & Loss Assessors.

Chris is a Master Mariner, surveyor, expert witness and since 1998 an Arbitrator.
He has also held the post of Pilot and Deputy Harbour Master for Bridgwater for some 20 years under contract to the Port Owners through C F Spencer & Co Ltd, the Company he started in 1984.
Chris sailed mainly on Tankers and Gas Carriers while at sea but also commanded Square Rigged sailing ships, Hovercraft Navigator, Yacht Delivery skipper and was “Towmaster” on Jack up oil rigs (most recently Gorilla VI on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland.
Chris has a wide variety of arbitrations with an emphasis on the more technical matters involving crane damage, speed and consumption, cargo disputes and disputes on contracts particularly with respect to Super Yachts.
He also managed 19 years in the Royal Navy Reserve in a variety of roles.

Capt. Behram Surty, a Master Mariner by profession and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered ShipBrokers – London. Capt. Surty has 37 years of experience in the Maritime Industry holding diverse line Management Positions. He is heading a major NVOCC Operator in the Indian Subcontinent and Gulf region. He has also held the position of Vice Chairman of the Institute of Chartered ShipBrokers – London Dubai U.A.E. Branch since 2004 and since 2010 is the President of the ICS – Dubai Branch.

After completing his Training as a lawyer, Omar was appointed as a legal counsel for the Al-Salam Group, a Jordan based Multinational Group in marine and shipping work. In 2000, Omar was appointed as general counsel for the group which then was then the owner of 9 vessels, a charterer of around 10 - 15 vessels per month and the agent of CMA CGM the French Line. In 2004 Omar joined Zaru Associates law firm as a partner where he headed the maritime department. In 2008 Omar joined the shipping department at Al Tamimi & Company.
Omar’s experience as a marine lawyer and advocate covers almost all aspects of the industry. He has dealt with and represented major P&I Clubs regarding claims. He has represented many clients in marine disputes through arbitration in London, Dubai, Kuwait and Jordan. He regularly advises in cargo, container, marine agency, shortages, groundings, bunker, collisions, salvage, seaworthiness and insurance claims. He has also advised on many vessel sale and purchases, which includes drafting, reviewing and advising on related legal and finance documents. He also has drafted and advised on different types of maritime documents such as recaps, charter parties, B/L, LOIs, Agency Agreements, Insurance and P&I cover.
Omar's experience includes mergers and acquisitions advice and structuring and set up advice for marine companies and other entities in jurisdictions such as Cyprus, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Malta, Panama, Sudan, UAE (including the free zones) and UK.

- Leader of the Indian delegation to United Nations (IMO) on two occasions.
- External Examiner of Masters & Mates for over 30 years and still continues as such
- Chief Examiner of Extra Masters of India.
- Nautical Assessor in an international ship collision case.
- Author of eight textbooks on a variety of subjects, on the operation of merchant ships.
- Master of the Company of Master Mariners of India.
- Chairman of the Nautical Institute India (West) Branch.
- ‘Principal Emeritus’ of LBS College of Advanced maritime Studies & Research.
- Sailed in Command of a general cargo ship to UK continent & back after retirement from Govt Service to prove to himself that is a practising Master not merely a teaching Master!
- Retired as General Manager, Training, Eurasia Group (now called the Bernard Schulte Shipmanagement Group) Mumbai after 3½ years.
- Now ‘Marine Examinations Consultant’ with Marshall Islands Ship Registry.
