In 1998 and immediately after completing his training as a lawyer, Omar was appointed as a legal counsel with Al-Salam Group a leading Multinational Group in marine work and shipping with main place of business in Jordan. Two years later, Omar was appointed as the general counsel for Al-Salam Group vessel owner (9 vessels), charterer (about 10 - 15 vessels per month) and agent of CMA CGM the French Line. In 2004 Omar joined Zaru Associates law firm where he headed the maritime department and in 2008 Omar joined the proud team of the shipping department in Al-Tamimi & Co. During his eleven years experience as a marine lawyer, advocate Omar was engaged and mastered many aspects of the marine work and shipping law taking the advantage of being situated and directly engaged with companies' top management, professional master mariners, brokers and seamen. He was engaged in direct negotiations with major P&I Clubs representing clients in arranging the Hull & Machinery cover and the FD&D cover not mention corresponding with such P&I Clubs regarding clients' claims. Omar has represented many clients in their marine disputes through arbitration in London, Dubai, Kuwait and Jordan in claims such as cargo claims, container claims, marine agency claims, shortages, groundings, bunker, collisions, salvage, seaworthiness and insurance. Simultaneously, Omar is a renowned litigator in the field of shipping in Jordan and the UAE and currently is the lead lawyer in litigation matters exceeding the sum of USD 2.5 Billion. Omar has witnessed and supervised many vessel sale and purchase including preparing, reviewing and executing all related legal and bank documents. Also, he possess an extensive experience in reviewing and advising different types of marine legal documents such as recaps, charter parties, B/L, LOIs, Agency Agreements, Insurance and P&I cover. To add, Omar's experience in shipping law is backed up with a long distinctive experience in the structure of different types of marine companies where he was engaged in the setting up, mergers and acquisitions of many companies engaged in marine business in many different legal jurisdictions such as Cyprus, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Malta, Panama, Sudan, UAE and UK. Omar is the author of the UAE Vessel Registration and Mortgage Section in the prestigious Maritime Law Handbook and currently co-authors the Iraq, KSA and Qatar Vessel Registration & Mortgage, Vessel Arrest and Judicial Sale sections. Also, Omar represented Al Tamimi & Company in the Technical Committee appointed by Dubai Chamber to review and comment on the new UAE Commercial Maritime Law draft. |

Having left school at fifteen and a half to join the British Merchant Navy initially
with the Shipping Federation and then with Esso Petroleum, he left the sea to go back to
College in Cardiff to study English Law and Economics.
He then went to Germany to live for a period of 8 years and primarily became involved in
Paint Inspection on shipbuilding and ship repair, progressing into technical service,
trouble shooting and failure analysis. His specialisation areas are marine coatings, tank
linings, paint failures and inspection.
He returned to the UK to join Solus Schall to head up their Paint Inspection and Consultancy Department supporting some 36 overseas offices with their subsequent diverse paint/corrosion operations.
He was one of the founder Trainers and Peer of the Internationally recognised NACE USA -Coating Inspection and Certification Programme
He subsequently joined Lithgow Associates and is currently their Managing Partner.
Lithgow Associates are Independent Corrosion Consultants specialising primarily in Failure Analysis, Litigation & Arbitration, Material Selection and Education and Training Services.
During his career he has undertaken work in some 70 different countries.
He currently co-ordinates the Lifetime Management of Materials (previously National Corrosion Service) Help and Advice service on behalf of the UK Department of Trade and Industry.
Some of Peter’s main projects have been:-
Responsible for selecting the materials for the renovation of the Albert Memorial London, surveying and reporting on some 500,000m2 of failed coating applied to 4 VLCC’s tanks for a middle eastern ship-owner and undertaking an Audit and developing a long term (12 year) maintenance painting strategy to a Far Eastern oil company owning some 230 offshore structures.
Investigating a major coating failure of vessel linings (GOSP’s - 20 in number) for Aramco.
He was commissioned on behalf of Railtrack plc to develop the strategic planning of the long-term maintenance of the world famous Forth Rail Bridge.
Chaired an expert “Corrosion Committee” to review and advise on proposals to the National Lottery and Heritage Fund to restore the famous SS Great Britain.
He was retained as a Consultant to the Exxon Chad-Cameroon Pipeline project evaluating and advising on all aspects of the material selection and inspection of the pipeline coatings.
He is the Joint Editor together with Roger Weatherhead of “Fitzs Atlas of Paint Defects now considered an internationally recognized textbook having sold some 2500 copies world-wide. Also joint editor of the new publication “Macaws Pipeline Defects”.
He has submitted numerous papers at international conferences and seminars
He is currently involved and retained as an expert on a 300million US$ litigation case on behalf of a major oil operator also a 150 million US$ arbitration to be fought in the International Court of Arbitration Geneva.

Went to sea at 16 years of age, to follow a lifetime of seafaring. An apprenticeship in cargo and reefer vessels was followed by a change to tankers in 1970, mostly with Esso and Chevron. Made Master in 1981 and stayed with Chevron until the late 90’s, finally moving to Mideast Ship Management Dubai.
After formally qualifying in Management of Ship Operations, took up a first shore-based position as Marine Advisor in San Francisco from 1992, with roles in incident investigation and as part of the casualty reaction team; and a variety of project-based assignments. Latterly fulfilled duties on various tankers and RoRo vessels as Safety, then Marine Superintendent for Mideast, based in the UK.
Now working independently; and/or representing Constellation Marine Services from the UK; mainly in inspection/pre-inspection, audit and incident investigation roles with a strong leaning to direct working with and on vessels.

Jasamin chairs the Legal Council of the German Emirates Club, a popular corporate networking platform amongst the expatriate German business community in the UAE. Since 2009 Jasamin is one of 6 board members of the International Propeller Club of the United Arab Emirates, a non-governmental organization to gather all members of the maritime community. The Propeller club has more than 10,000 members worldwide. Jasamin is also one of the founders and organizers of the UAE Ship Industry Round Table, a remarkable network event for Top Management and key persons within the UAE Shipping Industry.

Captain Adil D. Moos
Captain Adil D. Moos has over three decades of experience in the merchant navy of which he was in Command of ships for 12 years.
He started his career with the world reknown P & O Steam Navigation Company, London.
He is a certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 and also a Company Security Officer. He was instrumental in setting up the ISPS Code on over 18 ships from grassroots level.
He has been ashore since 2002 , first as a Marine Supdt in a large Ship management company operating out of Hongkong and later as a Fleet Safety Supdt with another ship management company in Dubai. Presently he is the QHSE Manager of a progressive ship management company in Dubai, called Gulf Stolt Shipmanagement jlt.
Adil takes a very keen interest in his profession and keeps abreast of the latest developments. He has been invited as a Guest Speaker in various Maritime Seminars and Conferences worldwide. He is a full member of the Nautical Institute, and is also the Hon.Treasurer of the Nautical Institute, UAE Branch- the Branch which is one of the most active in the World.
In his spare time Adil enjoys Music, reading, walking , espousing social causes, playing Table Tennis, Chess and has a penchant for fine dining.

Simon is qualified as a solicitor in the UK and in New Zealand. He has degrees in Law and Arts (Japanese) from the University of Auckland.

Joining the Royal Air Force at sixteen, I travelled the world (including a year in Persian Gulf) playing sport and having fun. On retirement I moved into office and business management and spent four years working with the building industry as a HR consultant.
I was headhunted to work with the Engineering Construction Industry and headed up the new Modern Apprenticeship Programme and adult training for eight years leaving due to work relocation of my wife.
Joining the Institute in January 2004, the remit given to me by the Directors was to make the Institute into the biggest and best organisation for marine surveyors worldwide.
Educated through the UK education system and the Royal Air Force Technical Training programme, I hold qualifications in administration, HR, business management and also four sports coaching badges.
My interests include football, cricket, rugby, reading, history and visiting places of historical importance.

He started his Marine Surveyor / Consultant career in 1982 after being in command for 7 years and overall sailing for over 17 years.
He has a wide range of experience and expertise in all marine related matters. His specialty is Maritime Disasters and Casualty Investigations, having acted as a General Average Surveyor on many cases for collision, grounding, salvage, pollution and fire damaged vessels. He has also been called-upon to act as a Marine Consultant to Owners, Shippers, Charterers, Average Adjusters, Cargo (P&I) and Hull (H&M) Underwriters and Ship brokers etc.. He has extensive experience in the condition status & valuation for sale & purchase of all kinds of vessels. Settlement of Cargo related disputes are yet another specialty of his and this experience has stood him in goodstead in presenting fair and reasonable awards as an Arbitrator.
He is a fully certified ISPS surveyor and a member of the following International Maritime Institutes : The Nautical Institute, U.K., and International Institute of Marine Surveyors. He holds an MBA from Kennedy Western University, Idaho, USA; Diploma in Marine Surveying from International Institute of Marine Surveyor, London; and Master Marine Class I from Merchant Marine Institute (AIP), Jakarta, Indonesia.
His 22-year-achievements have made him Chairman of Association of Indonesian Independent Surveyor (AISI) and the 3rd Chairman of AISI previously and Regional Director Indonesia for International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) as well as an Approved Nautical Inspector (ANI) for The Bahamas Maritime Authority, a Non-Exclusive Surveyor to Panama Bureau of Shipping (authorized by Republic of Panama) and a member (MNI) of The Nautical Institute.
